Community Events Archive

As a proud community partner, we are compassionately active.  From helping children in our local schools be set up for success to standing up for our local veterans, The Salvation Army Southern Nevada is there to lending a helping hand.

Veterans Stand Down

Grateful to take part in Veterans Stand Down at Cambridge Community Center. This year's event was a great success and exceeded any of the previous year's turn-outs.

The Salvation Army Southern Nevada was represented by our Veteran Services and Emergency  Disaster Services canteen. We contributed a total of 36 staff hours and 38 volunteer hours to this event.

Over 600 veterans attended the Stand Down. We provided transportation to 35 of our current veteran clients from ARP and Owens Campus to the Stand Down. They were able to obtain gear and supplies, received vision and dental screenings, and connected with other services available to them.

A total of 81 individuals were screened, provided with information or referred to other agencies by the our booth. Six homeless veterans were placed in our transitional and emergency shelter beds at Owens Campus. I've received a heartwarming letter from one of these veterans, thanking the Salvation Army for helping him get off the street.   EDS Canteen served over 400 cups of coffee and 27 cases of water.

Thank You to everyone involved and congratulations on great success!

Back to School Outreach

This year over 2,000 donated back packs were lovingly filled with the supplies needed and distributed to disadvantaged kids so that they could start the school year off on the right foot.

With your helps, thousands of local children in need

were blessed with the right tools and the confidence to

succeed in the classroom.
